COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., July 13, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — The Walt Disney Studios announced yesterday that they worked with Hanes, who is working with the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions (AGRM), to launch “The Odd Life of Timothy Green” Sock Drive on July 9, 2012, aimed at providing new socks for families in need across the U.S.

People are asked to take new pairs of socks to any of the community drop-off locations nationwide between July 9 and September 3, 2012. Besides the community locations, people may also drop off socks at Carmike and Marcus theaters in their communities. Hanes will be standing by to match donations up to 10,000 pairs of socks. AGRM will distribute the socks to the families they aid.

“The Association of Gospel Rescue Missions is delighted companies like The Walt Disney Studios and Hanes are collaborating on The Odd Life of Timothy Green’s sock drive” said AGRM President John Ashmen. “Families will undoubtedly be warmed by the touching story line of the movie, and ‘neighbors’ in need will certainly be touched by the warm socks that viewers donate.”

Ashmen added: “Many of the infirmities that homeless people bear are actually born in their feet because of all the walking and standing they do. New socks — clean, dry, and without holes — will go a long way to provide comfort and care for the men, women, and children who are desperate for assistance from those who can help.”
