OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla., July 18, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — Learning of the terrorist attack in Bulgaria today, Pastor Steven Khoury of Bethlehem Ministry and David Nekrutman of the Center for Jewish-Christian Understanding and Cooperation (CJCUC) expressed their heartfelt prayers to those who lost loved ones and wished for a speedy recovery for who those suffered injuries. A deadly explosion on a bus carrying Israeli tourists at the Bulgarian airport killed at least six people injured 30 others. Khoury and Nekrutman are in the United States promoting their Mission of Peace in helping Christian families who are financially challenged in the Holy Land.

“Bombs do not discriminate,” Khoury said. “Bulgaria is a destination for many Israelis including Arabs. This does not help the Palestinian — Israeli relations.”

Last week, Nekrutman was in Bulgaria with his wife for vacation and showed tremendous shock that a resort destination would be a target for terrorism. “I was on a bus with both Israeli Jews and Arabs and we all got along.” He added, “This is a senseless attack, but it will not deter the Mission of Peace that Khoury and I are on. We will redouble our efforts and show that people of peace have a louder voice than those of terrorism.”

Khoury and Nekrutman will be speaking at First Baptist of Moore in Oklahoma City tonight. “Our work today will take on a deeper meaning to show that religion is about peace and compassion and not fanaticism and terror,” Nekrutman and Khoury said.

CJCUC is the first Orthodox Jewish institution to religiously dialogue with the Christian world and is under the auspices of Ohr Torah Stone led by Rabbi Shlomo Riskin, Chief Rabbi of Efrat.
